New Approaches and Navigation Database Offering Available
Over the past several years Honeywell has been adding approaches into new and existing databases that fully utilize the benefits of business aircraft navigation and display systems. These have included both RNP AR approaches and FMS Guided Visual procedures. While we will continue to add procedures that are valuable to our customers, we are also expanding the offering to include procedures and databases that do not require an RNP AR LOA.
The New Approaches

These are FAA-approved special approaches that provide significant benefit in weather minima, promote stabilized approaches, and reduce pilot workload; particularly into challenging airports that lack instrument approaches or straight-in minimums.
The New Databases
Until now, these special approaches have been limited to Honeywell’s RNP databases. The new procedures listed above will be included in the RNP database for those customers who currently subscribe, however Honeywell is also making them available to non-RNP customers in our new “Advanced Nav” database to operators flying eligible aircraft. The Advanced Nav database will include the procedures above plus Honeywell’s FMS Guided Visual procedures.
Aircraft Eligibility for the “Advanced Nav” Database
To be eligible for the Advanced Nav database, the Airplane Flight Manual must have a statement that the aircraft is certified for RNP AR or Advanced RNP (A-RNP) operations. Operators need not have an RNP LOA, however these approaches must be listed on LOA C081.
As noted earlier, customers currently subscribed to Honeywell’s RNP navigation database are automatically approved for these approaches and will have access to the procedures if there is not currently an RNP AR approach with lower minimums available already. The approaches must be listed on LOA C081.
